Volunteer Staff

The School of Practical Christianity is staffed by members of Peace Lutheran Church volunteering their time and talents to offer enriching and enjoyable classes for spiritual and personal development.

  • Ceretta Daum, Co-Coordinator
Adult education within the church has always been exciting and challenging for Ceretta. She looks forward to getting to know many of the participants as we study together and share with one another during this wonderful opportunity at Peace. She has been involved in numerous Biblical and spiritual studies over the years, is an inactive Stephen Minister, and finds that she learns much more from what surprises her. So, she listens hard for what she didn't know before.
  • Marianne Gould, Instructor
Music has always been a passion of Marianne's…and growing up in a Lutheran parsonage, familiarity with hymnody and Lutheran liturgy is a given. She has served as organist and/or choir director in several Christian faith traditions including Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopal and Catholic, which has provided her many opportunities to participate in a variety of worship settings. After 27 years of teaching music in Texas, she is looking forward to expanding her personal knowledge and sharing her experiences using music to enhance worship.
  • Earl Koester, Facilitator
Earl has been involved in the Lutheran church for over 70 years. Being engrossed in science and engeneering for 50 years, he believes it is time to evaluate the church and the historic teachings in the enlightenment of the 21st century. Living the Questions is a wonderful series of presentations (DVD) by noted scholars, theologians, pastors, and lay persons addressing questions about the Christian faith. As facilitator, Earl leads the group to discuss, debate, and grow in contemporary Christianity for today
  • David Lange, Instructor
Biblical words, events, and world views have engaged David ever since he learned to play Bible Baseball as a preacher's kid at Cross Lutheran here in New Braunfels in the ’40s. Re-reading Jesus’ words in the parables for the 21st century offers perspectives and surprises he could not have imagined back then. “Let’s see what we are given eyes to see.”
  • Linda Lange, Co-Coordinator
A lifelong learner, Linda currently participates in the seekers Sunday school class at Peace and in a contemplative prayer group with Gardener's House of Prayer in New Braunfels. She has attended classes at the School of Wisdom and Practical Spirituality at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Marcos, the inspiration for her sharing her dream of a similar progarm at Peace during the “Sundaes on Sunday” in 2010. She is delighted to be helping to bring new adult education offerings to members and their friends.
